Aaron B. Kershaw
Aaron Kershaw was born and raised in Westchester County. Graduating from New Rochelle High School in 1988, with a concentration on Communications and Video Production. He entered the United States Marines a year after graduation, serving almost 3 years.
As a US Marine, Aaron served in Northern Iraq during the Gulf War in 1991 with the 24th MEU. During his second European tour he was injured and subsequently honorably discharged with honors from the United States Marine Corps.
After returning to Westchester, Aaron began his entrepreneurial quest. After a short time using the skills learning in the Marines, he acquired Eagle Towing and Haulage in New Rochelle. Managing a staff and company, computers became a necessity, thus began the new focus. After selling the Towing Company, Aaron set about learning about PC's and acquired a young programming company, Livewire Programming. After moving into the Internet designing Internet Sites for clients around the region, Aaron set himself apart from LPI. Creating Downtown Associates of Westchester with a Real Estate Lawyer, they moved deeper into the Internet with a local guide, NYDowntown.com.
After establishing Westchester1 Internet Media Services in 1997, he began to build and shape what is now Westchester-1.com. Corporate America came knocking, a small site, called Miningco.com. Westchester1.com became a hobby site for Aaron.
Aaron joined The Mining Company as an HTML Producer, moving up in the company over his 2.5 years with them to Technical Director, Core Services. Learning from the best in the industry, the site and company later became About.com, which grew to be the 5th most visited property on the Internet. At About.com Aaron trained personnel and built technologies to manage and create users pages, also tasked with project management and research and development for new products. After Primedia Entertainment acquired About.com, Aaron moved on to concentrate on Westchester1.com. Spending close to 24 months reworking what is the current site.
During 2002,Aaron acquired an interest in The Autoguide of Westchester, as a partner wasresponsible for production of the bi-weekly auto sales publication, including design and layout. Focusing more on westchester1.com Aaron's main corporation diminished his roles within Autoguide.
in 2002 Aaron started hosting a Westchester1.com sponsored Radio Talk Show on WVOX 1460am. After numerous guest appearances on other shows, Aaron was afforded the opportunity to showcase and highlight living in Westchester, covering entertainment, politics, businesses, lifestyles and more.
In 2004 the launch of On The Inside brings Aaron back to print and taking his website ideals to the original mass media...
2005 starting off just right, West1Media expands fulltime into DV Production. Establishing a new facility and offices in New Rochelle. Video Samples
June, 2005 Aaron becomes a receipent of the Westchester Business Council's
"Rising Stars, 40 under 40".
In 2006 Aaron joined the Boys and Girls Club of New Rochelle, to work part time as a Technical Director, and in March was voted in as Asst. Adjutant at American Legion Post 8 in New Rochelle, where he has been serving as Publicity Officer.
In 2007 Aaron continued to excel in local busines and online, spending the year focused on Re-building Westchester-1.com for its 10 year anniversary. Habitat for Humanity has long been a client of Aarons, creating Video and Multimedia for their great cause.
2008-2009 was all about family, with 2 young sons semi-retirement aka (stay-at-home-dad) was the choice at hand. Currently working from home as a New Media Consultant, Enjoying time with the kids and working towards bring a few projects to market in 2010.
